Writeous Words Communications was founded in June 2000 when Amy E. Lemen, freelance writer and journalist, decided her skills were better used writing to her heart’s content as an independent contractor. She’s been freelancing ever since for corporate, association and editorial clients (link here to amylemen.com).
Before going out on her own, Amy worked for 14 years in public relations and organizational communications for companies such as Brinker International (parent company to Chili’s Grill & Bar, Romano’s Macaroni Grill, On the Border and others), Electronic Data Systems, the City of Dallas, the Dallas Independent School District and the Texas Department of Housing and Community Affairs.
Industries she’s worked in include real estate/housing, healthcare, technology, health/fitness, restaurant/foodservice, financial, semiconductor, public relations, advertising, food and wine, and general business. Amy has an undergraduate degree in journalism and English from the University of Texas ( Arlington ), and she has a masters in liberal arts and English from Southern Methodist University. She also has a “Bike the Volcano” certificate from Mt. Haleakala in Maui, Hawaii and has run five marathons, 8 half marathons and numerous 10 mile, 10K and 5K road races. Other passions? Family, friends, crossword puzzles, cooking, and great food.
